Multivane Fan

With the advent of the steam turbine and high speed electric motor, their was a demand for forced draft and ventilation fans that would operate efficiently at these higher speeds. Sturtevant introduced their first forwardly curved fan around 1908, shortly after Davidson Co. developed the Sciroco fan, the industry's first.

Possibly due to Davidson's Scirocco patents, Sturtevant developed blades with unique spooned or cup-shaped depressions. They claimed it to be 33% more efficent then straight blades.

Construction
The efficiency, durability and large capacity of this fan was due in large measure to the special construction of the blast wheel. instead of being made up of a few blades as in the old type of steel plate paddle wheel fan, it consisted of a large number of spooned narrow blades securely riveted to the side plates.
