Application
A special variety (N3) was 60" in diameter and 25" high to meet the requirements of locomotive shops and ship yards.

Construction
A circular forge built of steel plate. On one side was an independent steel plate coal and water tank, on the other a sloping bottom which faciliated shoveling out the coal.
