History > Camden Factory Camden, replacing an earlier Philadelphia site, was a basic sheet metal shop configured to produce light guage sheet metal work; air washers, dust collectors, air blenders, etc.. It comprised a two-story building housing the stockroom on the 1st floor and the general offices on the second floor. Extending out to the rear was a 300' x 100' shop equipped with brakes, shears, beaders, presses, rolls and other metal-working machines. During WW2, Hyde Park had so much unusual Government work to produce that Camden was upgraded to a regional fan shop. Its 80 men and women produced thousands of small fans as part of the war effort. Westinghouse closed the plant in 1946.
